The focal point for many sports in and around Cheddar is the Kings of Wessex Leisure Centre, which has a pool, with racket sport courts, a sports hall, plus dance studio and gym. It also offers facilities for disabled users. Open all year.

Youth football
Cheddar has youth football teams in several Woodspring Junior Leagues from u9 to u16s: U10 - U11 - U12 - U13 - U14 - U15 Division 1 and Division 2, and Under 16 Division 1 and Division 2. If you have a boy or girl in your family who would like to play football for Cheddar in any of the youth teams, please contact the junior club secretary Andy Micklewright.

Somerset has Yeovil Town, whilst in Bristol there are Bristol City and Bristol Rovers.
Cheddar Cricket Club – in 2013 the club will have two teams in the Somerset Cricket League on Saturdays and a Sunday side in the North Somerset Cricket Conference. It also has teams at under-17, 15, 13 and 11 levels in the North Somerset Youth League.
Cheddar Rugby Club – welcomes all children from 6 to 15. Organises the annual Cheddar Rugby Tournament for Somerset.

Cheddar has no soft play areas, but an outdoor playground with swings and slides is available in Hannah More Park in the centre of the village.
Cinema
Cheddar’s cinema closed in 1958! Our nearest mainstream cinema is the Wells Film Centre which shows all the latest circuit films. Cheddar Arts also shows occasional films and there is a community cinema, The Roxy, in Axbridge.
